Picking up where we left off in 2014, The McCleery Law Firm scored another jury verdict for its client.  In Racefab, Inc. v. Grantham, Mr. McCleery was able to obtaina monetary recovery for the Defendant.  The jury found that Racefab, Inc. and its principles, Martha, Joel and jefferson jackson had committed fraud and several violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Yet again!  The McCleery law Firm made Texas Lawyers list of largest trial verdicts in Texas for 2014. The McCleery Law Firm's $521,000.00 jery verdict in Jang v. Hanyang and Wan Y. Kim was one of the largest jury verdicts handed down in 2014.  Messers McCleery and Kim are hopeful that 2015 holds a much success as 2014 and wish everyone a happy new year.

The McCleery law firm is pleased to announce another major success at the Courthouse.  Mr. McCleery and Mr. Kim successfully represented thier client in obtaining a $521,000.00 jury verdict against Hanyang, Inc. and Wan Y. Kim.  Hanyang, Inc. and Wan Y. Kim were represented at trial by Robert J. Kruckemeyer of Houston, Texas.

The McCleery Law Firm is now in its now in its new offices located at 5020 Montrose Blvd. on the 6th Floor. As a member of the Houston Zoological Society and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Mr. McCleery is very pleased to be in the Museum District very close to Hermann Park and the Medical Center.  The firm's new offices will further facilitate the firm's dedication to expanding its mediation practice and to continue its long standing business and commercial litigation practice.

We've done it again!  The McCleery Law Firm has once again made Verdict Search's Top Texas Verdicts for 2010.  The McCleery Law Firm, along with Plake & Mintz, L.L.C., obtained a $544,235.06 Verdict in Hallmark Restoration Group, L.L.C. v. Canchola Properties, L.L.C. Plake & Mintz, L.L.C. and The McCleery Law Firm successfully prosecuted Canchola Properties, L.L.C.'s counter-claims against Hallmark Restoration Group and Roadrunner Moving & Storage.  The claims arose over alleged Hurricane Ike restoration efforts that were to be made by Hallmark Restoration Group on Canchola Properties"s apartment complex on Galveston Island, Texas.

The First Court of Appeals issued a Memorandum Opinion in Paul Kim, et. al. v. Board of Trustees of the Korean Christian Church of Houston affirming  the Judgment of the trial court in favor of the Board of Trustees.  On behalf of the Board and the congregation, the firm is very pleased by the Court's holding in this matter.   The full opinion may be viewed at:

Stephen E. McCleery successfully assisted Plake & Mintz, PLLC in defending Canchola Properties, LLC from claims made against it by Hallmark Restortion Group, LLC relating to a restoration and renovation contract for hurricane Ike repairs.  Moreover, the trial team consisting of Stephen E. McCleery, Daniel Plake and Silvia Mintz successfully prosecuted Canchola's counterclaims against Hallmark, Jason Freeman and Robert McGowan.  Ultimately, the trial team obtained a Five Hundred Forty-Four Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-Five and 6/100 Dollar ($544,235.06) judgment against Hallmark, Freeman and McGowan.  The firm is pleased to have been involved in helping the victims of Ike defend themselves against meritricious lawsuits and those companies and individuals who sought to take advantage of those who suffered on Galveston Island as a result of the storm.

The firm’s new offices are conveniently located blocks from the United States Federal Courthouse and very near to the new County Court Complex. The Historic 6th Ward of Houston is undergoing a dynamic resurgence and, with its panoramic view of downtown Houston, provides a wonderful environment for the firm’s continued full service approach to the practice of law.

The Texas Supreme Court issued a per curium opinion in Trail Enterprises, et. al. v. City of Houston remanding the matter to the trial court for entry of judgment on Plaintiffs Trail Enterprises’ jury verdict in excess of $19 Million Dollars. That jury verdict is reported to be largest jury verdict ever awarded in the County Court at Law No. 1 for Harris County, Texas. The verdict was one of the top 100 verdicts awarded in the United States in 2005. The McCleery Law Firm is extremely pleased with the Supreme Court’s opinion and order and looks forward to continuing its successful representation of Trial Enterprises in seeking a condemnation recovery from the City of Houston.

The Court of Appeals for the 10th Judicial District, Waco, Texas affirmed the trial court's judgment of $964,279.44 rendered in Dawmar Partners, Ltd., et. al. v. State of Texas.  Philip E. McCleery of Sheehy, Lovelace & Mayfield, P.C. and Stephen E. McCleery of The McCleery Law Firm successfully represented the landowners in a condemnation action against the Texas Department of Transportation.

The firm is pleased to announce that Stephen E. McCleery of The McCleery Law Firm and Philip E. McCleery of Sheehy, Lovelace and Mayfield, P.C. successfully defended Fleetwood Mobil Homes of Texas against a wrongful termination claim filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.  Messrs. McCleery were pleased that the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Fleetwood.  The Plaintiff had sought more than $80,000.00 in damages against Fleetwood.

June 2006

The firm was listed in Verdict Search's Top 100 Verdicts of 2005 for the verdict Stephen E. McCleery helped to obtain in Trail Enterprises v. City of Houston.  The list includes the Top 100 jury verdicts obtained in the United States on an annual basis.  The $19,046,700.00 verdict in Trail Enterprises is reportedly the largest verdict ever rendered in the County Court at Law No. 1, Harris County, Houston, Texas.
